My youngest and I have been making decorations as gifts for the preschool teachers. I knitted the trees and she’s picked out the sequins and threaded them onto the blunt needle for me to sew on.
The trees are very simple:
Using double knit yarn and 3.25mm needles.
Cast on 3 stitches,
- Knit 1 row (3 stitches),
- Knit 1, increase in next stitch (I knit front & back), knit 1 (4 stitches),
- Knit 1 row,
- Knit 1, increase in next stitch, knit 2 (5 stitches),
- All odd rows knit,
- On even rows increase one in the centre stitch or stitch before if it’s even. Continue until 20 stitches, knit one more row then bind off.
We used a sparkly embroidery thread and sequins from our extensive craft selection to decorate both sides the same. We didn’t worry about the thread showing as it looks a little like bunting as we worked from the star at the top to the baubles at the bottom with one piece of thread.
