The Lewy Body Society are aiming to wrap the Royal Albert Hall in London in a giant scarf to raise awareness of Lewy body dementia. They need knitters to get involved with their A Scarf for Lewy project by knitting scarves and by spreading the word on social media with the hashtag #AScarfForLewy.
Lewy body dementia is a little-known type of dementia that is very different to the most common type, Alzheimer’s disease, and requires different support and treatment. It can be very challenging to live with and is often misdiagnosed. We want more people to know about Lewy body dementia so that those affected get better support, and there is more scientific research into the disease.

They ask that scarves are 30cm/1 foot wide and any length, the longer the better as the final scarf will need to be 244 metres long! The charity’s brand contains dark and light blue with polka dots but any yarn in any colour and stitch pattern will be gratefully received. The deadline for sending scarves is 15th August 2022. Full details can be found here.
