KnitPro, manufacturers of knitting needles, crochet hooks and knitting accessories kindly sent me a set of their KnitPro Nova Cubics Interchangeable Circular Needles in hopes that I’ll say nice things about them. I’ve been devoted to my Knit Pro Symfonie interchangeable knitting needles for nearly a decade and hadn’t given much thought to investing in any new needles, especially metal ones as I long ago convinced myself they were all made with nickel which I’m allergic to.
Naturally, I put down the garment I was 2/3 of the way through knitting as soon as the package arrived to cast on a project with the new needles. I’m now 2/3 of the way through a child’s poncho as well as 2/3 of the way through an adult sized jumper.
I’m really enjoying the way the acrylic yarn is smoothly moving over the needles and cables including over the joins and the knitting I’ve produced is neat and even. I’m not conscious of the square shape of the needles as I work however I haven’t noticed any aches in my hands having switched from wood to metal and there’s definitely no allergic reactions as these tips are made of brass and then electroplated with chrome. None of the KnitPro metal needles contain nickel.
The Nova Cubics Interchangeable Deluxe Set come in a neat and compact case with spaces for the seven sets of tips and a pouch for the cables, end caps, cable keys and cable connectors. The tips are all marked with their sizes in millimetres and the cables are colour coded for length
Are these new needles going to change my life? Probably not. Are the Nova Cubics going to replace the Synfonies as my go to tips? I think I’ll be choosing on a project by project basis. Would I be prepared to give the set away or loan them out to my next door neighbour? Absolutely not.
The KnitPro range includes straight needles, interchangeable knitting needles and double pointed needles in multiple lengths, sizes and materials. There is something to suit everyone and if you give them a try, almost certainly more than one something!
If my experience has tempted you to try something new check out this blog post from KnitPro on finding the best knitting needles for you and this sampler set of needle tips which gives you the opportunity to try something new without committing to a whole set straight away.
